Filmmaker Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi film Kalki 2898-AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, will release in theaters on May 9, 2024, the makers announced on Friday Starring.

The future is about to be revealed. #Kalki2898AD,” the studio announced on Instagram. The film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, is planned to be released on 1 March 12. Project K 2020, a masterpiece, promises to take the audience to a never-before-seen world of Indian cinema, according to its producers.
The name of the movie, Kalki 2898-AD, was announced by the makers at San Diego Comic-Con -Con (SDCC) to be released in July 2023. It is produced by Aswini Dutt, Founder of Vyjayanthi Movies.

In July 2020, Indian actress Deepika Padukone was signed to play the lead role of Prabhas. While Padukone was “excited” to be a part of the film, Ashwin said her role would be “amazing” as it was “something no big star has done”.
This film is Padukone’s debut in Telugu cinema. Bollywood Hungama reported that her role was initially “inconsequential” but was later transformed into stardom. In October, Amitabh Bachchan played the lead role in the film. Ashwin said that his character was “so important that his character’s name was a viable title in the early scripts”.
The film will be Bachchan’s first feature-length role in a Telugu film, having previously appeared in guest roles in Manam (2014) and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019).
In May 2022, Disha Patani joined the show and marked her return to Telugu films after Love (2015). In June 2023, Kamal Haasan joined the film, marking his return to Telugu films after Cheekati Rajyam (2015).
